Program Description

This e-learning module introduces the Five Factor Model of personality, an influential personality framework with significant applications for business, leadership, and human relations in general. You will learn:
  • What is personality?
  • What is the Five Factor Model?
  • What is the importance of learning about personality at work?

To make the most of this training, you will have the opportunity to complete the Narrative Big Five Assessment. You will then receive an 11-page personalized report including your scores on the five main traits (Resilience, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness)and 23 subtraits.
  • Resilience refers to your reactivity and tolerance to stress.
  • Extraversion has to do with general sociability and friendliness.
  • Openness refers to your imagination, complexity, and comfort with change.
  • Agreeableness has to do with your comfort with not having your way and cooperating with others.
  • Conscientiousness refers to focus, methodicalness, and organization.

About the authors:

Dr. Cris Wildermuth, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, is the Community Chair for Linked:HR, a 1M-member LinkedIngroup. An Associate Professor at Drake University, Dr. Wildermuth directs the Master of Science in Leadership Development program. She has conducted leadership and diversity programs throughout the United States, in Europe, and Latin America and has considerable expertise in personality, leadership ethics, and employee engagement. She has published a Diversity Training book with the Association for Talent Development and various articles in peer reviewed publications such as the Journal of Business Ethics, the Journal of Academic Ethics, and the Journal of Psychological Issues in Organizational Culture.

Caryn Clause Lee has had a successful consulting career including 15 years at Accenture, followed by 10 years with the Center for Applied Cognitive Studies (CentACS), in Charlotte, NC. Ms. Lee is co-author of the Narrative Big Five assessment and founded her company, Narrative Consulting, in 2014. She has traveled extensively, working throughout the United States and Europe, Brazil, Singapore, Australia, India and a two-year assignment in London. Caryn earned a B.S. in Math from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is also a graduate of the Innovation Institute at the McColl Center for Visual Arts. She is a partner with Social Venture Partners, a non-profit venture philanthropy organization, as well as a past president of OD on the Edge, an industry networking group.
